50 STAFF GIVEN NOTICE AT VOLVO TRUCKS IN LINDESBERG Volvo Trucks in Lindesberg has issued redundancy notices to 50 of its staff. The notices affect 15 white-collar staff and 35 blue-collar. For 18 months, production at Lindesberg has gradually increased to a very high level. At the same time, new products and new production equipment have been phased in. This required extra staff. The new products - a new range of rear axles - are now in series production, and the new production equipment is almost fully run-in. At the same time the manufacturing programmes are in process of levelling out. The combined result of these is to reduce the need for staff at Volvo in Lindesberg. Volvo Trucks in Lindesberg has about 780 employees. It produces rear axles and planetary gears. November 5, 1998 For more information please contact: Tommy Kohle. Tel: 031-66 65 17.
