Truck deliveries - August 2002

TRUCK DELIVERIES - august 2002 Deliveries from Volvo's truck operations, which includes Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, Inc., and Renault Trucks, increased by 13% for the month of August, compared with the same month last year. On a year-to-date basis, deliveries amounted to 99,095 trucks, a decrease of 1% compared with the same period last year. In Europe, deliveries declined by 5 % while North America increased with 1% compared with the same period last year. "As expected, deliveries in North America continues to be on a significant higher level than in the beginning of the year. This is a result of customers pre-buying trucks in advance of the new emission regulations coming in effect as of October 1. In Europe, demand for our trucks remains at a high level," says Volvo's CEO Leif Johansson. On a 12-month rolling basis, total order intake for the truck brands was at the same level as last year, with Europe up 1% and North America down 10%.
