Truck deliveries in August 2011

Total deliveries from the Volvo Group’s truck operations in August amounted to15,557 vehicles. This was an increase of 35% compared with the year-earlier period.

Volvo Trucks

Volvo Trucks’ deliveries in August rose 59% year-on-year. Delivery increases were reported in all major markets.

Deliveries in Europe totaled 1,787 trucks, up 54% year-on-year. The month of August has traditionally been characterized by somewhat lower delivery activity due to the vacation period in Europe.

Truck deliveries in eastern Europe rose 100%. The trend inRussiaremained highly positive and the number of deliveries in August increased 186% to 272 vehicles compared with August 2010.

The company continued to perform well in South America, where deliveries in Brazil reached an all-time high in August. Deliveries also increased for Volvo FH, Volvo FM and Volvo VM. Volvo Trucks maintained its market-leading position in the heavy truck segment in Brazil. In total, deliveries in South America rose 65% to 2,471 trucks compared with August 2010.

Truck deliveries in the North American market increased 74% during August to 2,105 vehicles, despite disruptions due to component shortages in the industrial sector as a whole.

Mack

Despite ongoing weakness in construction, Mack deliveries in August totaled 1,365 vehicles, up 38% compared with the year-earlier period. While the replacement demand that's been driving heavy-duty truck sales continues, the industry is being challenged by production delays resulting from component shortages.

Renault Trucks

Deliveries in August increased by 38% compared to same period last year.

In Europe 2,379 trucks were delivered in August, up 51% compared to the year-earlier period. Also deliveries to markets in Asia and South America showed good progress with increases of 93% and 136% respectively.

Deliveries to other markets declined by 43%, marked by the political and economic situation in North Africa and the Middle East, countries in which the company is well established.

UD Trucks

Deliveries from UD Trucks in August amounted to 2,066 units, decreased by 12% compared with the year-earlier period.

Deliveries in Asia amounted to 1,531 units, decreased by 19% compared with the year-earlier period.

Deliveries in Japan amounted to 925 units, decreased by 26% compared with the year-earlier period. This is due to the end of contract manufacturing of light-duty trucks for Nissan Motor on January, 2011. Excluding the light-duty trucks produced for Nissan Motor within the collaboration framework in 2010 deliveries this year increased by 19 %.
