Truck deliveries in October 2011

Total deliveries from the Volvo Group’s truck operations in October amounted to 22,028 vehicles. This was an increase of 25% compared with the year-earlier period.

Volvo Trucks

In October, Volvo Trucks delivered 11,110 vehicles, an increase of 39% compared with the year-earlier period.

Deliveries in Europe totaled 4,628 trucks, up 34% year-on-year. Truck deliveries in Eastern Europe rose 130%. The trend in Russia remained positive and the number of deliveries in October increased 150% to 561 vehicles compared with October 2010.

Truck deliveries in Brazil rose 24% year-on-year. At the transportation fair Fenatran in São Paolo October 24-28 there was a big interest for Volvo’s Euro 5 introduction. Volvo is the first truckmanufacturer introducing Euro 5 in Brazil and the technique is available in Volvo trucks in Brazil since July this year. In total, deliveries in South America rose 30% to 2,050 trucks compared with October 2010.

Truck deliveries in the North American market rose by 51% to 2,501 vehicles, reflecting continued strong replacement demand for highway trucks, and the success of the Volvo brand in driving North American fuel efficiency leadership through the combination of proprietary engines and the I-shift transmission.

Mack

Deliveries in October totaled 1,793 vehicles, up 31% compared with the year-earlier period. Mack continues to compensate for weakness in construction through a focus on increasing sales of its highly fuel efficient Pinnacle highway models, capitalizing on the uptick in activity in the energy sector, and steady performance in the refuse market.

Renault Trucks

Deliveries in October increased by 8% compared to the same month last year. In Europe 4.068 trucks were delivered in October, an increase of 8% compared to the year earlier period. In Asia, deliveries rose by 86% to 475 trucks in October. Demand for the Renault Premium Route continued at a high level.

In October, Renault Trucks delivered a 16 ton electric Midlum to a transport company that will distribute goods to grocery shops in the inner city.

UD Trucks

Deliveries from UD Trucks in October amounted to 2,172 units, an increase of 6% compared with the year-earlier period.

Deliveries in Asia amounted to 1,599 units in October, up 5% compared with the year-earlier period.

Deliveries in Japan amounted to 918 units, a decrease of 7% compared with the year-earlier period. This is due to the end of contract manufacturing of light-duty trucks for Nissan Motor on January, 2011. Excluding the light-duty trucks produced for Nissan Motor within the collaboration framework in 2010, deliveries this year increased by 96%.

In October 531 trucks were delivered to South-East Asia, the increase of 36% compared to last year, was mainly due to strong demand in Indonesia.
