Volvo acquires further shares in Scania

VOLVO ACQUIRES FURTHER SHARES IN SCANIA Volvo has acquired a total of 1,401,500 A shares and 2,971,200 B shares in Scania. The shares have been acquired at an average price of SEK 228 per share. Volvo has also acquired 6,036,100 call options carrying the right to acquire 1,207,220 B shares in Scania prior to June 4, 1999 at the latest. The call options have been acquired at an average price of SEK 10.94 per option. The acquisitions correspond to 2.8 percent of Scania's share capital and 1.7 percent of the company's voting rights. Following the above acquisitions, and including exercised call options, Volvo owns a total of 15,001,500 A shares and 16,278,420 B shares in Scania, which corresponds to 15.6 percent o the share capital and 15.1 percent of the voting rights.
