Volvo enters into cooperation with Colombia University

VOLVO ENTERS INTO COOPERATION WITH COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY Volvo and Columbia University in New York have decided to enter into cooperation in the environmental field. The cooperative venture includes establishment of a joint environmental studies program for the university students. Cooperation between Volvo and Columbia University creates an entirely new platform for dialogue between the university and large companies regarding the impact of industrial operations on the environment. In this manner, tomorrow's corporate executives are being prepared to properly take into account the environmental aspects in their future decision-making. Initially, the cooperation between Volvo and Columbia University involves three parts: establishment of a joint academic studies program comprising theoretical and practical elements. a number of Volvo scholarships in the environmental field will be awarded to students from other American universities to broaden environmental knowledge in the academic world. Volvo and Columbia University will establish a permanent environment and transportation exhibition at Columbia University's research and environmental training center in Arizona, which has more than 200,000 visitors annually. "To learn about environmental practice is important" says Volvo president and CEO Leif Johansson. "With this collaboration we offer young people opportunities for practical, real-world learning that prepares them to act consciously and skillfully in their future roles."
