Volvo IT has signed a three year agreement with the City of Göteborg in Sweden, worth SEK 20 million. The deal was completed as a result of Volvo IT’s capacity to run low-cost mainframe environments.

Following negotiations in which four suppliers were involved, the IT-department at the City of Göteborg’s administration division chose to sign an agreement with Volvo IT. As a result of this agreement, Volvo IT will be responsible for operating the mainframe environment for a period of three-years, with the option of extending the agreement by a further one year. “The City of Göteborg has decided to outsource operating its financial systems and we offered them a very efficient way of running the systems at a low cost”, says Peter Österberg, External Business Developer at Volvo IT.
