Volvo sponsoring new professor at the University of Skövde Leo de Vin will shortly be promoted to the post of professor at the University of Skövde. He is currently working as a senior lecturer in automation technology at the Department of Engineering Science. Almost exactly a year ago, representatives from the university and Volvo Powertrain, Volvo Cars and Euromation agreed to create a chair of automation technology which would be paid for by Volvo. Today, a joint decision has been made to appoint senior lecturer Leo de Vin to this post. Leo de Vin will shortly be promoted to the post of professor. The aim of this joint venture between Volvo and the university is to encourage more engineers to look for jobs in the engineering industry. In addition, the university is hoping to be able to turn theory into practice. Leo de Vin was born in Vlissingen (Flushing) in the Netherlands in 1957. He obtained a Master of Engineering from the University of Twente in 1989, followed by a PhD from the same university in 1994. Leo de Vin has previously worked at the universities in Ulster in Northern Ireland and Twente in the Netherlands. In 1997, he was a guest lecturer on integrated product development at the University of Skövde.
