Volvo Truck Corporation starts Truck assembly in Moscow

VOLVO TRUCK CORPORATION STARTS TRUCK ASSEMBLY IN MOSCOW At a meeting on February 9, 1999 in Gothenburg between representatives from the city of Moscow and Volvo Truck Corporation, an agreement was made to start assembly of Volvo trucks in Moscow during the spring 1999. After approval by local and federal authorities in Russia, there are plans for further expansion of the assembly operation later this year. The deal was signed by Karl-Erling Trogen, President and CEO of Volvo Truck Corporation, and Vladimir Resin, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, on February 9, 1999. "I consider this deal as a very important step forward in our plans for substantially increased presence in Eastern Europe", Karl-Erling Trogen states in a comment.
