VOLVO TRUCKS' DELIVERIES JANUARY-APRIL 2000 Volvo Trucks' deliveries during January - April 2000 amounted a total of 26,487 units. Sales showed the following distribution: 1999 2000 % Europe, total 14,632 14,738 +1 of which Western Europe 14,007 13,639 -3 Eastern Europe 625 1,099 +76 North America 10,426 8,488 -19 South America 1,191 1,161 -3 Asia 557 1,615 +190 Other markets 499 485 -3 Total 27,305 26,487 -3 The demand on heavy trucks remained strong in Western Europe, and in Eastern Europe the activities increased from a low level during the first four months of the year compared with the same period 1999. Volvo Trucks increased its total delivery volume in Europe, but the increase was limited in consequence of fewer calendar working days compared with the same period previous year (-7%). In North America, Volvo decreased its production as an adaptation to the present industry situation with too large stocks in the distribution line. Up to and including April, the order intake of Volvo Trucks increased by two percent compared with the same period 1999.
