Volvo Trucks Reveals Next Generation VM Model for Brazil and Latin America
Volvo Trucks has revealed the fourth-generation VM model for Brazil and Latin America. The new VM marks the next step in design and performance innovation for a truck model that has transformed the Brazilian commercial vehicle market since its 2003 introduction. The fourth-generation VM also brings optional four-axle configurations for higher load capacity.
“Ongoing investments in updating the VM line are a testament to the success the VM model has achieved in the Brazilian and Latin American markets,” said Francisco Mendonça, VM truck line manager for Volvo Trucks in Brazil.
8x2 and 8x4 axle configurations for added load capacity
With the launch of the new VM comes availability of four-axle models, offered in 8x2 or 8x4 configurations. The addition of a four-axle option boosts the VM’s hauling capacity by increasing the maximum Gross Total Weight to 29 tons.
Available 8x2 and 8x4 configurations of the versatile new VM are ideal for a variety of medium-distance on-highway applications or vocational applications, like concrete mixers, dumpers and regional distribution. Customers can specify the four-axle VMs with 270 horsepower or 330 horsepower engines and a wide range of gearboxes, ranging from six to 12 speeds. The Volvo VM is also available in 4x2, 6x2 and 6x4 configurations.
Styling enhancements for improved performance
Fourth-generation VM truck and tractor models incorporate many of the signature exterior appearance elements of the new models introduced in Europe.
“The new VMs have what we call Volvo’s new 'family look,’ meaning Volvo models incorporate similar styling elements to create a similar look across the product family,” said Bernardo Fedalto, truck director for Volvo in Brazil.
Distinct V-shaped LED daytime running lights, like those found across the global range of new Volvo models, provide greater visibility. Redesigned bumpers retain the Volvo family identity while incorporating more modern, robust materials.
Inside the cab, the new VM incorporates the best-in-class ergonomics carried over from the third-generation VM with updated fabrics, patterns and paneling.
Aftermarket solutions for ease, low cost of ownership
Volvo Trucks in Latin America backs the new VM with a suite of aftermarket transport solutions. Volvo’s preventative maintenance contracts, VOAR emergency service program and Reman parts program are avaliable to help maximize vehicle uptime and carrier profitability.
To further support customer’s acquisition and ownership of the new Volvo VM model, Volvo Financial Services and Volvo Insurance offer customers a number of financing and insurance solutions developed based on their broad knowledge of product deployment and carrier needs.
