VOLVO WINS A 200 MILLION USD CONTRACT FROM CHALLENGE AIR CARGO The US carrier Challenge Air Cargo Inc., today announced the signature of an agreement with the Swedish aircraft engine overhaul and service company, Volvo Aero Engine Services (VAES). The total value of the order is 200 Million USD during a period of 10 years. The Agreement gives Volvo the responsibility for engine and component repair and overhaul services on the JT9D-59A-engines fitted to the carrier's DC10 fleet. The first DC10 freighter entered service with Challenge during September 1998. Within four years it is anticipated that their DC10 fleet will grow to five or more aircraft. "This is a very important contract to VAES because it is the first long term agreement with a quality US carrier", says Ragnar Norbäck, President of VAES. "Challenge's demanding operation requires high quality support and we are very happy to obtain this support from an industry leader such as Volvo", says Challenge Air Cargo, Chief Operating Officer, David P.
