VOLVO WINS A 500 TRUCK ORDER FROM HUNGARIAN TRANSPORT COMPANY Hungary's largest transport company, Hungarocamion, has signed an agreement for supply of 500 Volvo FH12 trucks. This purchase marks a major breakthrough for Volvo's truck sales on the Hungarian market. Hungarocamion is one of the giants on the European transport market, operating a fleet of 1,100 vehicles. The company was privatized in spring 1998 and the order for the new Volvo trucks is part of a process of swift fleet renewal. The order is for 500 complete rigs including semitrailers made by the German trailer manufacturer Schmitz. The first trucks of this large order will be delivered in mid November this year. In conjunction with the sales of its trucks, Volvo is also taking over one of Hungarocamion´s workshops in Budapest. The aim is that both Hungarocamion and Volvo's other customers in Hungary should gain access to a modern Volvo workshop and the other services that Volvo can offer. Following staff training and equipping of the premises, the renewed workshop will be inaugurated in early 1999. "The agreement is a vital breakthrough in our focus on the Central European markets. Hungarocamion is a major player, not just in Hungary, but in the rest of European transport community", says Tom Jörning, Volvo trucks area director for Eastern Europe.
