    UD Trucks and Nissan Motor end collaboration on contract manufacturing of light-duty trucks

    The collaboration between Volvo Group’s Japanese subsidiary UD Trucks  and Nissan Motor on the contract manufacturing of light-duty trucks will expire and the production will end in January 2011. Nissan Motor will then move the production of light-duty trucks to Nissan Shatai, an affiliate company of Nissan Motor.The decision enables UD Trucks to focus more on medium and heavy-duty trucks.     Penske Truck Leasing orders 600 Volvo trucks

    The US-based transportation services provider Penske has ordered 600 Volvo VN670 tractors providing near-zero regulated emissions and improved fuel economy.With EPA2010-certified Volvo D13 engines and selective catalytic reduction (SCR), Penske has selected the cleanest-running diesel trucks available today that can deliver 5% better fuel economy than previous engines and a smaller carbon footprint for its customers.     Volvo Trucks has signed an agreement to deliver trucks to Derba Cement in Ethiopia.     Volvo Group begins selling trucks that meet EPA2010 emissions standards

    AB Volvo’s North American subsidiary, Volvo Trucks North America, has begun selling vehicles that meet the new US emissions standards, EPA2010, which come into effect in 2010. The trucks meet the standards using SCR, Selective Catalytic Reduction, which also increases fuel efficiency and reduces carbon emissions. Initial production is scheduled for autumn 2009.By beginning the process this early, the plant in New River Valley, Virginia can commence the production of trucks that meet the new emissions standards already prior to them coming into effect next year.
