ABB wins significant asset management solution order in China
Launch of predictive maintenance software solution to help optimize critical power grid assets
Jiangsu Electric Power Company, one of the largest subsidiaries of State Grid of China Corporation (SGCC), which supplies electricity to more than 80 million people, has selected ABB Ability™ Ellipse® Asset Performance Management (APM) solution to manage and optimize assets across its electrical grid operations. Real-time data, measuring the performance of transformers and other critical power assets are systematically analyzed in order to predict maintenance and asset renewal needs.
“Our new ABB Ability Ellipse APM solution, which can be delivered in the cloud, or on premise, will provide real time insights to predict and prevent equipment and system malfunctions” said Massimo Danieli, head of ABB’s Grid Automation business, within the company’s Power Grids division.” The field data will enable timely actions and help enhance grid reliability and efficiency”.
The ABB Ability Ellipse APM software will be integrated with existing systems. In addition to enabling maintenance prioritization and asset renewal, it will help optimize asset utilization, reduce maintenance costs and mitigate the risk of equipment failure and system outages.
China’s energy consumption is accelerating exponentially. By 2040, an average Chinese household is expected to consume nearly twice as much electricity as today1. Jiangsu, as one of the most densely populated areas of China, plays a key role in driving this trend, which in turn also makes the management of its power equipment complex and sensitive. With its more than 2,990 substations and 87,000 kilometers of transmission lines, the uninterrupted verification and analysis of power assets are crucial and ABB Ability Ellipse APM helps in this crucial task.
