ABB has been awarded in the category “brand experience” at the annual EURO Effie award ceremony in Brussels, Belgium, for the successful implementation of the ABB FIA Formula E partnership in 2018. Nicolas Ziegler, Head of Markets, Brand and Events, received the award on behalf of ABB, making it the first B2B, as well as the first industrial company, to win in this category. Serviceplan, Europe’s leading independent agency group, supported the brand activation of the partnership in Season 4.

As Europe’s most prestigious marketing communications award, the Euro Effie, focuses on efficiency and evaluates achievements based on numbers. The category “brand experience” additionally concentrates on the creation of meaningful, memorable and engaging experiences that bring a brand to life in a unique way.

In January 2018, ABB announced its title partnership with the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. Since then, some 6,600 media articles have been issued across the globe, 12.3 million social media impressions were generated on ABB channels alone and 300,000 customers, partners and employees have experienced the E-Prix across four continents live from the racetracks.

Nicolas Ziegler: “ABB FIA Formula E is the perfect platform, not only to showcase our pioneering role in the field of e-mobility, but also because it is positioned in the middle of our value chain. All our four businesses share the same goal as the racing series – to create an energy-efficient future. At the same time, we are creating a unique sporting and technology experiences in iconic cities that engage and fascinate a broad audience.”

The ABB FIA Formula E Championship, which will soon start Season 6, brings electrifying race action to the streets of the world’s leading cities and is far more than just a marketing platform. It is a proving ground to test new technologies, drive development to the production line and put more electric cars on the road.

With more than 11,000 DC fast chargers sold across 76 countries, ABB not only has the largest installed base worldwide, but is also bringing a steady stream of new advances to the field of e-mobility. Through impactful projects, like with Electrify America, IONITY, Fastned and many more, ABB supplies High Power DC fast charging stations, able to deliver enough energy for 100 km of range in just 4 minutes. ABB also demonstrates how the translation from the racetrack to the road could look in the near future, teaming up with Jaguar on the I-PACE eTrophy as official charging partner.
