Collect your own eggs and pick your vegetables from the kitchen garden

Juniper and Rose Kitchen Garden School is a new cookery school with a difference, which is dedicated to affordable, ethical and inspirational courses.

Created by author of Prepped and BBC radio presenter Vanessa Kimbell, the school is set in a beautiful shabby chic house in the village of Pitsford, Northamptonshire.

It’s not your typical cookery school because Vanessa only teaches four to five people at the most, which means there is time to wander into the working Victorian kitchen garden and pick fresh herbs to use.  The heritage vegetables can be picked moments before they are needed, and Vanessa says students love that they can pop out to the chickens and find fresh eggs.

“Too often cooking is prescriptive and stressful.  I love for people to see just how practical and cost effective it is to bring the kitchen, the garden and local ingredients together to create delicious food that you really will cook again when you get home,” says Vanessa.

The courses are priced from £95 and include:

Making Sourdough

Jam making

Learning to set up and run a pop up bakery

Confidence with fish

Cooking specialist mushrooms

Grow your own cut flowers
