Logwin confirms Acando’s expertise in logistics software with three-year contract

By concluding a three-year contract amounting to one-half million euros, Acando and Logwin are continuing their successful cooperation of many years. Using the logistics solution Passat, which was developed by the consulting company, Logwin brings almost half of all press products to their destinations in Germany.

Logwin is responsible for ensuring that magazines and newspapers make it to their readers in mailboxes or at newsstands on time each day. The system Passat takes complete control of the orders and transport for 12 sites in Germany. Now in its 11th year, it has proven equal to all the demands made by the market since the system’s start in 2000. “Acando ensures that the application is always running stably and according to the valid requirements, while continuing to further develop the solution with excellent technological and content-related expertise,” says Thilo Foelsche-Schiedat, Managing Director Operations│Transport and Retail Networks│Media and General Cargo at Logwin, in describing the successful support by Acando.

Once the system was developed, its continual maintenance was a conscious decision by the logistics company for both a reliable and individual solution, which is able to take on the 1800 tours daily with a total of 3000 tons of press and print products. The decisive factor is that Passat meets the special demands of Logwin like no other system can. “For us, application management for Passat is not just taking care of the application, but continuously optimizing logistical processes,” explains Dr. Jörg-Stefan Bock, Team Manager Application Management at Acando. “We are especially happy about the trust Logwin has given us, which makes it possible to completely take care of the project remotely,” added Bock, who has known the system since its inception.

Passat assumes control (administration and planning) and account-related handling of all press logistics processes – from automatic data transfer, to fine-tuned planning of delivery tours, up to settlements with publishers, printing works and service providers. The corresponding interfaces ensure a swift, reliable and smooth interplay of all processes without media disruption. Publishers convey their orders, sub-contractors receive precisely accurate routing plans, and the settlements take place directly or via data transfer to SAP.
