Vein Illumination Leader, AccuVein Inc. and PSS Enter Into Distribution Agreement
AccuVein Vein Illumination System to be offered to Physician Practices and Alternate Healthcare Markets
Long Island, NY (February 26, 2013) – AccuVein Inc. announced today a distribution agreement with PSS. PSS will be the U.S. distributor of AccuVein’s portable, non-contact vein illumination system to doctors’ offices, surgical centers, vascular surgeons and other healthcare professionals.
Vein illumination from AccuVein displays a map of the vasculature on the patient’s skin to locate veins. Venipuncture for IV starts and blood draw is the most common invasive medical procedure, with millions of procedures conducted every day around the world. Studies show that up to one third of these attempts to access a vein fail the first time, creating unnecessary patient discomfort, as well as additional costs.
Sclerotherapy procedures also benefit from vein illumination as it helps identify the veins and shows in real time the sclerosant being injected inside the vein. The AccuVein device confirms the procedure's efficacy in eliminating the vein. Vein avoidance in surgery and cosmetic procedures is also an important application of the device.
