Vein Illumination Leader Announces AccuVein AV400
AccuVein Launches Next Generation Device
Long Island, NY, March 4, 2013 – AccuVein Inc. today announced the launch of the AccuVein AV400 vein viewing system, the next generation of the breakthrough AccuVein AV300 vein illumination device. Vein illumination devices from AccuVein help healthcare professionals locate veins by displaying a map of the patient’s vasculature directly on the surface of the skin. Locating peripheral vasculature is invaluable in many medical procedures that require vein access or avoidance.
The AccuVein AV400 is now even more user intuitive, as it can be held in any direction over the skin’s surface and has a very broad viewing range from the surface of patients’ skin. Also the AV400 can see veins up to 10mm deep, easily detecting large and small veins. An inverse mode has been added that further helps to highlight small veins.
“The AV300 demonstrated the safety, efficacy and improved patient satisfaction that vein illumination provides. In the same handheld form factor, the AV400 is easier to use and provides dramatically improved vein illumination,” said Joe Zott, AccuVein’s VP of Engineering.
“This new high performance all digital device will help us extend our reach into non-acute markets, helping to improve patient care in markets such as physician offices and vascular surgery centers”, said Daniel Delaney, AccuVein’s Chief Operating Officer.
Venipuncture for IV starts and blood draw is the most common invasive medical procedure, with 2.7million procedures conducted every day in the United States alone. Studies show that up to one third of these attempts to access a vein fail the first time, creating unnecessary patient discomfort, as well as additional costs. AccuVein vein illumination has been shown to reduce the need for multiple needle sticks, thereby improving patient care and the time to access veins.
Sclerotherapy procedures also benefit from vein illumination as it helps identify the veins and shows in real time the sclerosant being injected inside the vein. The AccuVein device confirms the procedure's efficacy in eliminating the vein. Vein avoidance in surgery and cosmetic procedures is also an important application of the device.
Weighing less than 10 ounces, the hand-held portable device uses point-and-click technology. With a range of hands-free options, it can quickly switch between a hand-held and hands-free mode, freeing the practitioner’s hands to perform the procedure.
