Commonwealth gold medal holder looking to build on Leeds victory in eight-round contest
North East-based champ credits sponsors Acklam Car Centre with helping him achieve success
Middlesbrough, UK - Boxing champ Simon Vallily has just announced his next fight - a ‘home turf’ bout at Sunderland’s Rainton Meadow stadium.
The 2010 Commonwealth gold medallist, who won his last contest in Leeds last month, will head into the ring to face an as yet unnamed opponent for the 30 November match.
And as cruiserweight Simon, 28, says he can’t to box in his native North East.
He says: “This has been a great year for me and having this fight lined up, bringing it home, seems like a perfect way to end it.
“My opponent hasn’t been named yet but I’m training hard and feeling positive so hoping I’ll be able to do all my supporters proud.
“We’re expecting a good crowd on the night and it will be a great atmosphere.”
The contest will be fought over eight rounds and among Simon’s supporters will be backers Acklam Car Centre and webuyanyhouse.com.
And as the Middlesbrough-based fighter says, their sponsorship has helped him enormously.
Earlier this year he began working with Rothwell-based trainer Michael Marsden and has showed a return to form after winning in three rounds in his Leeds bout last month.
Simon says: “I’m really looking forward to boxing in front of a home crowd - there should be loads of supporters, including my sponsors and it’s always really appreciated.
“Acklam have been fantastic and a great help. They’ve given me a car to use which is really handy in terms of all the travelling I do.
“I hope they’ll be there to cheer me on, on the night.”
