Today, AcouSort officially launches AcouWash 2, the new version of the company’s cell washing and separation system. AcouSort will present the system and its applications in two presentations at µTAS, an international conference for researchers and companies within Life Science.

– It feels great to now be able to present AcouWash 2. We have worked hard on this product development project for over a year, incorporating design changes and improvements based on feedback from our customers. Our research instruments play a key role in our business strategy as they enable us to establish our technology on the market, by placing them at key opinion leaders within research and at life science companies, says AcouSort’s CEO Torsten Freltoft.

AcouWash is a benchtop research instrument that uses acoustic separation to wash or separate cells in for example a blood sample. Common applications include separation of specific populations of blood cells and generation of pure plasma from whole blood samples. The AcouWash is already in use by several companies to evaluate integrating acoustic separation into their processes. Several of these projects have good potential of developing into OEM deals.

With the new and improved AcouWash 2, AcouSort can continue to develop additional collaborations in the future. The new version features higher throughput with improved temperature- and flow control. The system is intended to be used as a standalone research instrument as well as a platform for life science companies to perform assay development, with the purpose of integrating the technology into next generation diagnostic systems.

µTAS is an international conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences where AcouSort this year will be a virtual exhibitor. During the conference, AcouSort will give the following presentations: “Acoustic Separation of Platelets from Whole Blood” presented by senior Project Manager Anke Urbansky and “How to automate your sample preparation using sound” presented by AcouWash Commercial Product Manager Julia Alsved.

About AcouSort

AcouSort AB (corporate registration number 556824-1037) is an innovative technology company focusing on developing products and solutions for integrated preparation of biological samples. With the help of sound waves, the company's products can separate blood cells, concentrate, purify and stain cells, exosomes and bacteria from biological samples. The technology of the company's products is acoustofluidics, where sound waves and microfluidics enable automated handling of samples in a range of application areas, from research on new biomarkers to the development of new diagnostic systems for near-patient testing – so-called Point-of Care (POC) systems. The company's commercialization strategy is based on the already proven business model of providing separation modules to diagnostic system manufacturers for integrated sample preparation as well as to continue the commercialization of the company's research instruments. With the help of the company's products and development of point-of-care tests, new diagnostic systems and treatments are enabled, addressing some of the most challenging disease areas of our time: cancer, infectious diseases and cardiovascular diseases.
