Adera follows Volvo Cars around the world - I thought the new Volvo needed a small test drive, says Christer Gerlach, the world's leading solo car driver, about his future around-the- world trip in the new Volvo Cross Country. During the preparations and throughout the trip, anyone who is interested can follow Christer on the Volvo Cars' special Web site which as been produced by Adera. Using different mobile communication systems, which are designed to function on every continent, this Web site will be updated more or less every day with reports and pictures from Christer. With its intelligent 4WD, improved ground clearance and top-class road performance, the new Volvo Cross Country is ideally suited for long journeys on roads that can be very poor at times. Christer Gerlach's journey is more than 40,000 kilometres long and will take him through Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and North America, before he returns to Sweden in the autumn. Everyone can accompany him This is not Christer's first long trip. Quite the reverse, in fact. He has been chosen as the "world's leading solo car driver" by the Guinness Book of Records. What is new this time is that he will be in constant touch with the world via his Web site. - Marketing the trip in advance and enabling people to follow me on my journey are both new to me. In the past, I set off and it was not until I got home again that I made things publicly known through newspaper articles and the books I write. So this adds a new dimension to the trip, says Christer. Modern technology - exciting design The Web site that has been produced by Adera in Göteborg is based on modern, dynamic technology, with the overall aim of making it easy to update. The design is fresh and exciting and navigating is straightforward. The site also includes a game produced in the latest version of Shockwave in which visitors can drive cars. Several stages will be presented during the trip and there will be winners for every stage and a final winner once Christer returns to Sweden. To communicate, Christer will be using a portable computer from Hewlett Packard and a total of three Ericsson phones. A GSM/satellite phone which functions regardless of his position, a standard dual-band GSM and a "world GSM" which even works in the USA. A Canon digital camera will make it possible to update the Web site with photographs. It will take Christer about 10 minutes to send a text message plus a picture, no matter where he is. The Web site can be found at: www.v70xctour.volvocars.com, but it can also be accessed via the Volvo Cars' global Web site at: www.volvocars.com For more information, contact: Janerik Dimming, SVP Corporate Communication Adera AB +46-31-701 67 66, +46-706-20 60 08 Per-Åke Fröberg, Project leader Volvo Cars +46 31 59 26 08 Adera AB (publ.) create commercial benefits for our clients by bringing together in our organisation skills which are crucial for being able to compete successfully in the new business world: strategy and business development, marketing/communications and IT/internet skills.
