Bergen Energi and N2EX Helping Make the Jump into Nord Pool

Bergen Energi has teamed up with N2EX to assemble a cast of leading energy industry experts to host a round table discussion on the future of energy buying this autumn. The presentation to the Major Energy Users’ Council, taking place at London’s Carlton Club on October 27th, will see several energy industry big-hitters explaining and debating the benefits that trading on an energy exchange can bring. Bergen Energi says that exchanges such as N2EX, welcomed by the regulator to aid liquidity in the market, provides end users with a greater level of transparency and risk managed products compared to traditional solutions. N2EX is the UK energy exchange for physical power networks set up by NASDAQ OMX Commodities (NOMXC) and Nord Pool Spot AS. The event chaired by Bergen Energi CEO Bill Schjelderup, features presentations from Bergen Energi, NASDAQ-OMX/Nord Pool, Ofgem, The Major Energy Users’ Council, The Energy Intensive Users’ Group and The Small Suppliers Forum. Richard Southgate Vice President at Bergen Energi UK says the addition will bring its UK customers closer to the European and Worldwide energy markets. He said: “N2EX is an outstanding exchange network, allowing trading to take place in a way that has not been seen in the UK before, but the concept is new to the UK energy market and there are rightly a lot of questions about the way it would be applied. “Bergen Energi's UK operation has been working closely with N2EX, to provide new alternatives to more traditional supply solutions for UK end users, enabling a more direct route to market with increased transparency and balancing options. “Bergen Energi will be providing the Major Energy Users’ Council with an insight from an end user’s perspective and presenting the risk management benefits an exchange can deliver – but the array of speakers attending means there will be no stone left unturned.” To register an interest in attending the event, which is by invitation only please contact simon.firth@bergen-energi.com
