Three of the region's leading business figures are using their years of collective experience to further drive one of the North East's largest educational organisations forward. North East-based NCFE has appointed three new board members, Nigel Hudson, Allan Steele and Chris Fleetwood, to bring their experience in marketing and brand awareness, education and finance respectively to the NCFE Board. Nigel Hudson joins the board to support NCFE on its marketing and business development strategy, having held two main board positions at two of the North East's largest support service providers for SMEs – Sage UK and Technology Services Group. He is also non-executive director of Business and Enterprise North East. Nigel has extensive experience of building and developing international and domestic brands, developing acquisition strategies, new product development and marketing those products and services to the private and public sectors. Allan Steele brings over 35 years’ experience in the education sector, covering the learning and skills sector, further education and schools, which is a sector waking up to the benefits of Vocational Qualifications. As Assistant Director with Gateshead LEA, Allan led the strategy for school improvement before later working nationally as an independent consultant. He was also heavily involved in the introduction of CoVE, Train to Gain and the Training Quality Standard and is currently a Governor of Gateshead College. Chris Fleetwood joins NCFE with an extensive financial background having advised various companies on the implementation of effective business strategies. Chris will apply his knowledge and business experience to help maximise the financial and ICT strategy for NCFE. Chief Executive for NCFE, David Grailey, said: “We’re extremely pleased to welcome our new members to the Board. They have outstanding experience in each of their specialisms and I am very confident that they will help NCFE continue along its robust growth and development plan over the next few years. “In light of recent cut-backs on spending, the New Year looks as though it will be yet another challenging one for all sectors, so it has never been more important for businesses to have the right people on board. We wanted key business figures from the region who will clearly add value to enable us to drive NCFE forward.” For more information from NCFE, visit www.ncfe.org.uk or call 0191 238 8000.
