Advantech Launches First Low-power Thin Mini-ITX Motherboard with Three Independent Display Support

Jan 03, 2017, Taipei – Advantech, a leading embedded computing and intelligent applications provider, today announces the release of AIMB-216, a new industrial-grade fanless Thin Mini-ITX motherboard. The Intel® Pentium® and Celeron® N3710/N3160/N3010, AIMB-216 comes bundled with Advantech’s own WISE-PaaS/RMM software suite, which offers remote management and security features for IoT and embedded applications. With the latest Intel 14nm technology, AIMB-216 offers significant CPU and graphics performance improvements with lower power consumption (CPU TDP is only 4~6W), which is suitable for a multitude of lower power applications such as panel PCs, digital signage boxes, ATM/Kiosks, gaming, medical, and transportation fields.
Thin Fanless Design with Abundant I/O Connectivity for Flexible Embedded Applications
AIMB-216 Thin Mini-ITX is fanless and designed with a low profile I/O to offer higher performance with lower power consumption. AIMB-216 comes with high connectivity and multiple high-speed I/O including: dual GbE LAN ports, 4 x USB 3.0, 6 x USB 2.0, 2 x SATAIII. For expansion, AIMB-216 supports 1 x PCIex1, 1 x M.2 (B key), and 1 x full-size MiniPCIe (with PCIe and USB signals) for flexible modular add-on card installation. AIMB-216 supports 6 x COM (COM3 supports RS-232/422/485 auto-flow control, COM 6 supports 5V/12V), which benefits users who want to connect devices without additional external power supplies and those needing reliable data transfers over long distances. Furthermore, AIMB-216 accommodates both ATX 12V and DC-IN power to provide a low total cost solution. These features make AIMB-216 a perfect fit for a wide range of low power industrial applications such as Panel PC, PIS (Passenger Information System), small kiosks, and entry level medical systems which require power-efficient and space-saving solutions.
Triple Display and Excellent Graphics Performance
AIMB-216 integrates Intel Gen 8 graphics engine, which improves throughput, media acceleration, display resolution (3840x2160), as well as additional media codecs and improved media acceleration compared with previous iterations. It is the first low-power Mini-ITX to support H.265 HW decoder that delivers stunning graphics and media performance and includes DirectX11, OpenCL1.2 and OpenGL4.2. In addition, AIMB-216 supports rich display output with HDMI1.4 (or dual channel 24-bit LVDS), Displayport 1.1(or eDP), and DVI-D for multiple display capability. It also supports up to three independent display outputs, and up to 4K2K resolution support for HDMI/DP, which makes it ideal for gaming and digital signage customers who require a slim size solution with high resolution graphics and up to 3 independent display output support.
Built-in Intelligent Remote Management and Value-Added Software Support
AIMB-216 bundles with Advantech’s exclusive IoT software WISE-PaaS/RMM, which is a smart and value added software framework that constantly monitors the health of multiple devices and sends out alarm notifications via e-mails and SMS messages if any system faults occur. It also provides remote device management and system recovery powered by Acronis, and system protection powered by McAfee to ensure reliable operation.
Furthermore, Advantech will launch WISE-PaaS Marketplace, an online software shopping website, to provide diverse IoT cloud services, security, WISE-PaaS software services, and IoT solution packages integrated with IoT cloud solutions to accelerate and transform your business.
