Truven Health Analytics names Advocate as one of the premier health systems nationally for a 5th time

Advocate Health Care is being recognized as one of the country’s leading health systems for a 5th time.—one of only two systems in the nation with this distinction. Truven Health Analytics announced its list of the 15 Top Health Systems today. The winners are listed in large, medium and small categories. Advocate is among the top five large systems recognized

Truven determines the rankings by analyzing public data of hospital performance in clinical quality and efficiency. Additionally, those listed among the top 15 systems have demonstrated the highest standards of patient care, overall patient satisfaction and have saved more lives.

“The honor is reflective of the commitment of our physicians, clinicians and staff who dedicate themselves to providing the safest and highest quality of care to those we serve,” said Jim Skogsbergh, Advocate president and CEO. “We are honored to be recognized as a quality leader, a vital focus of the health care industry."

As the largest health system in Illinois and one the largest in the Midwest, Advocate is focused on improving health care quality and outcomes while reducing the overall cost of care—moving from “volume-driven” to a “value-driven” model through its nationally recognized Clinical Integration Program.

“We believe focusing on care coordination, prevention, early detection and education is critical to improving health outcomes and reducing costs, said Lee Sacks, M.D., Advocate executive vice president and chief medical officer. “It also ensures our patients receive the right care, at the right time and at the right place."

The new ranking comes just a month after Truven named five Advocate hospitals among 100 Top Hospitals in the nation. Advocate Christ Medical Center , Advocate Condell Medical Center, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital , Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center on Chicago’s north side, were listed. Advocate accounted for five of the nine Illinois hospitals ranked this year.
