Downers Grove, III — Recognized for excellence and efficiency in providing care, five Advocate Health Care hospitals have been named to the prestigious list of the 100 Top Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics. The Michigan-based organization announced the rankings today.

The list includes Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center on Chicago’s north side. Condell Medical Center is recognized for the first time in 2014, Lutheran General Hospital for the 15th time, Christ Medical Center for the 6th time and Good Samaritan Hospital and Illinois Masonic Medical Center for the 5th time. Advocate accounted for five of the nine Illinois hospitals ranked this year.

Condell Medical Center and Lutheran General Hospital also received the Everest Award that recognizes hospitals that have achieved both the highest current performance and the fastest long-term improvement over five years.

“These honors are a reflection of the hard work and expertise from our physicians and associates who are committed to providing the best possible care to the patients we serve,” said Jim Skogsbergh, president and CEO, Advocate Health Care. “We’re honored to be included among this prestigious group of health care providers.”

To make Truven’s elite group, hospitals must not only provide the best possible care for patients, they must also demonstrate excellence as an efficiently run business. Truven considers the 100 Top as shining examples for others to follow.

The Advocate sites were chosen from 3,000 U.S. hospitals surveyed. Researchers at Truven say that if all Medicare inpatients received the same level of care as those treated in the award-winning facilities, more than 165,000 additional lives could be saved, along with more than $5.4 billion in savings from operational efficiency.
