Lindstrand Hot Air Balloons creates flying Dragon for new client Palletways Group
The team at Lindstrand Hot Air Balloons has once again created a first in ballooning – this time it’s Britain’s largest flying dragon.
Palletways Group, who commissioned Lindstrands to build and operate the special shaped balloon, along with a standard shape 105, is Europe's market leader in the express distribution of small consignments of palletised freight. Lindstrand Hot Air Balloons, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of hot air balloons and airships, unveiled the dragon, christened Slick, in London with the help of TV chef Anthony Worrall Thompson, who cooked breakfast in a specially commissioned frying pan, using the balloon’s propane fuelled burners. Slick the Palletways Dragon carries 120,000ft of hot air on his delivery pallet - the equivalent to 3400 washing machine size packages. Lindstrand Hot Air Balloons, based in Oswestry, Shropshire, has a reputation for innovative projects. Recently, they worked with George White to create the world’s first flying Superbike, to promote their support and involvement in the British Superbike Championships. And last year, Lindstrands were the choice of James May and the Top Gear team to create a flying caravan-airship, which James took flying across the British countryside, much to the delight of Top Gear audiences. Hot air balloons are recognised as an effective part of any integrated marketing campaign, contributing high levels of brand awareness, saliency and tangibility. Lindstrand’s have a proven track record in this area, working with clients to fully achieve their marketing objectives. Simon Forse, Managing Director of Lindstrand Hot Air Balloons, commented ‘Balloons effectively reinforce your Marketing message and create a focal point to increase brand awareness. We’re delighted to be working with Palletways in the execution of their innovative and eye-catching campaign.’ Paul Komuro, a marketing consultant to Palletways, said: ““The launch of the balloon is part of our interactive marketing strategy to increase the engagement that our own staff and customers – whether they be warehouse staff or financial directors - have with the Palletways’ UK and continental European brands. “Balloons are a spectacle and are proven to be a great way to achieving strong brand recognition cost effectively. Our member companies across the UK, including those in Bristol will be using the balloon at local level to build relationships with customers and prospect businesses. We are looking forward to seeing the impact of taking our brands to a whole new level – quite literally.
