AFRY accelerates the energy transition through renewed framework agreement with one of the largest DSO’s in Sweden
AFRY is awarded a new framework agreement with one of the largest DSO’s (Distribution System Operator) in Sweden. Through the framework agreement, AFRY will offer a wide range of technical consulting services to strengthen the distribution network and make it more efficient for the integration of new fossil-free energy sources.
The Swedish electricity network company Vattenfall Eldistribution is the largest owner and operator of regional networks in Sweden and distributes electricity to more than 900,000 companies and individuals - over half of all electricity produced in the country. They are a key player in the transition to a sustainable society and their strategic objectives are in line with AFRYs mission.
Through the framework agreement, AFRY continues as trusted partner in assisting Vattenfall Eldistribution to achieve its strategic goal of distributing twice as much electricity by 2030. As a leading player in industry, energy and infrastructure, AFRY will offer a wide range of consulting services, covering the design and implementation of smart grid technologies, design of local networks, power lines and station enhancement, energy capacity measures and integration of a diverse array of fossil-free energy sources into the Swedish national grid.
“Vattenfall has been an important player in the expansion of the Swedish electricity grid and now has a clear vision to expand and adapt the grid based on a doubled electricity demand by 2045. The importance of the electricity grid for achieving Sweden's climate goals and ensuring Swedish competitiveness is absolutely central and we are therefore very proud to contribute with our expertise in this important work" says Tord Karlberg, Head of Transmission and Distribution Sweden at AFRY.
The agreement is valid from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2025 with an option of 1+1+1 years. The order value for AFRY has not been disclosed.
