The global ingredient provider Caldic consolidates their two Nordic factories and the Nordic headquarters in Malmö at a new site in Jägersro, Sweden. After delivering both the pre-study and the Basic Design, AFRY was awarded the assignment to also deliver the implementation of the production processes.

Caldic is a world leader within the field of special and customized ingredients for food, pharmaceuticals, personal care, and industrial products. The new green field factory located in Jägersro, Malmö in Sweden, will consolidate the two factories and the Nordic headquarters.

The production plant will produce both dry and liquid products, such as aromas, compounds, food colorants and sugar blends. It will also provide the possibility to repack liquid food products.

Throughout the whole project, there is a strong focus on sustainability. Alongside the new equipment delivered by AFRY, equipment on existing sites in good condition will be moved and reused in the new plant. Also, the facilities are planned to be certified according to the Swedish standard ‘Miljöbyggnad’ at Gold level.

“At Caldic we are very proud of this project and the investment is a clear proof of confidence in the Nordic market. We are happy to partner with AFRY and their vast experience in building green field production plants for food as well as pharma ingredients. With the plant, we aim to generate significant growth with focus on sustainable ingredients to various markets in the coming years” says Gustav Larsson, CEO at Caldic Ingredients Nordic.

AFRYs delivery is a so called EPC project including management, process and layout design, procurement, fabrication, automation, mechanical and electrical installation, and commissioning.

“This is a great project for us at AFRY to partake in. By being involved already from the start with feasibility studies and delivering Basic Design, now followed up by the whole process delivery, means we can contribute with our expertise throughout the whole project until the delivered factory is up and running, says Jessica Stenberg, Head of Business Area Food & Pharma at AFRY.

The project recently started, and the new factory is planned to be in production during Q3 in 2025.
