AFRY joins Industrikraft
Industrikraft is a new company formed before the summer on the initiative of Alfa Laval, Boliden, SKF, Stora Enso and the Volvo Group, to support the expansion of the Swedish electricity supply. Today, AFRY joins as an equal shareholder, together with a number of other companies.
The purpose of Industrikraft is to create a platform for Swedish industry to constructively contribute its perspectives and expertise on energy issues in dialogue with the state and energy companies. Today, AFRY joins together with ABB, Alleima, Billerud, Epiroc, Hitachi Energy, Höganäs, SAAB, SSAB, Södra, Vectura and Volvo Cars, all equal shareholders.
“Industrikraft is an important initiative, driven by players who are deeply involved in the industrial transition required for Sweden to achieve its climate goals. AFRY has deep insights and expertise within the energy sector, and we look forward to working together to find solutions to support the expansion of the Swedish electricity supply, which in turn is crucial for the green industrial transition”, says Henrik Tegnér, Head of Strategy and Sustainability at AFRY.
In addition to the affiliated companies joining, Industrikraft will also gain special expertise and experience through co-operation with Robert Andrén, until recently Director General of the Swedish Energy Agency.
“With the current 17 partners, all industrial sectors will be well represented in Industrikraft and we will be a stronger stakeholder in continued dialogues on how the Swedish energy system should be financed, secured and expanded. Industrikraft's position will be based on an energy system analysis compiled by Robert Andrén. The analysis is important in the context of investments in nuclear power” comments Tom Erixon, Chairman of Industrikraft.
The companies behind Industrikraft are deeply involved in the industrial transition required for Sweden to achieve its climate goals. Its founders believe that all fossil-free energy sources are needed to ensure competitive prices on electricity and reduce carbon dioxide emissions along with significant energy efficiency improvements. Electrification is a crucial component in that process and access to fossil-free electricity at competitive prices is a crucial issue for the competitiveness of Swedish industry.
