AFRY wins project to promote circular and sustainable practices within the Nordic construction sector

As announced by The Nordic Council of Ministers, AFRY Management Consulting has embarked on an exciting project to promote circular and sustainable practices within the Nordic construction sector.

The project’s primary objective is to minimise the construction sector’s environmental footprint and enhance the sustainability of building life cycles. This will be achieved by increasing focus on recycling and reusing construction and demolition waste while proposing effective waste reduction measures throughout the sector.

AFRY’s approach comprises of four project phases aimed at creating a comprehensive list of measurements that will support policymakers in reducing and reusing construction waste:

  1. Identifying key technologies and exemplary practices within the Nordic region
  2. Gathering data on Nordic construction waste streams
  3. Researching international best practices regarding the treatment of these streams and their potential applicability in the Nordics
  4. Discussing the preliminary findings with stakeholders, completing the report and preparing it for publication

The project team consists of experts from all Nordic countries to ensure a holistic perspective that represents the entire region.

Anna Karin Jönbrink, Country Lead, Sustainability Consulting Sweden said: “We are delighted to contribute to the transition towards a more sustainable and resilient built environment through this project. Drawing on AFRY’s deep sector-specific experience in circular economy, from engineering through to strategic advisory, we are well-positioned to deliver a thorough and holistic action plan that can ensure lasting benefits. At the same time, we are pleased to further enhance our expertise in fully integrated circular economy approaches, as demand increases from organisations striving to achieve their climate goals.”
