    ÅF assigned new hydropower project in the Lagan river

    ÅF has been commissioned by Statkraft to renovate the electrical and control equipment of two hydropower plants on the Lagan River. The assignment is an end-to-end project in which ÅF will build a new control room for the Knäred Upper and Knäred Lower power plants.     ÅF wins new sustainability assignment for a hydropower project in Bhutan

    ÅF has been commissioned by the World Bank to carry out a study of the Mangdechhu hydropower project from an environmental and sustainability perspective. The assignment will begin in October 2015 and the results will be presented to the World Bank and the Bhutanese authorities during the first half of 2016.     The Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol (“the Protocol”) is a framework to assess the performance of hydropower projects according to a defined set of sustainability criteria, encompassing environmental, social, technical, and financial aspects.  The protocol examines four development stages of a project: Early Stage, Preparation, Implementation and Operation. Within each stage tool, a range of sustainability topics are covered.
