Berthold and Agellis start co-operation with initial development order placed on Agellis
BERTHOLD TECHNOLOGIES GmbH & Co. KG, a global supplier of measurement equipment for the metals industry and AGELLIS Group AB, a company that develops and markets products/solutions to the global metals industry, have signed a co-operation agreement for the development and delivery of electromagnetic equipment for level measurement in continuous casting molds. An initial order for adaptation of the EMLI technology into a unique Berthold product platform has been raised.
The aim of the co-operation is ‘co-designed’ products for level measurement in continuous casting molds. Berthold, that historically and still today, makes use of radiometric methods to measure molten metal levels, will launch a new electromagnetic level measurement system, which will be based on the Agellis EMLI technology.
The agreement means that Agellis EMLI technology will be adapted to the existing Berthold measurement platform and will be exclusively manufactured for Berthold to enable them to equip their existing systems to use electromagnetic measurement technology. The development order covers the initial part of the adaptation of the EMLI technology. Within the co-operation agreement Berthold has the intention to order further development work to increase the functionality of their new eddy current mold level system.
Berthold will market its system via its well-developed network of subsidiaries and agents, as well as directly to end users and major OEM/ line builders. The co-operation may not generate any additional sales in the current year but it is projected that in 2013 we will see the first results of this important agreement. The agreement means that there are no limitations for Agellis to continue selling its EMLI level measurement systems for continuous casting through its own marketing channels.
