For the 2022 edition, Aggreko, temperature control solutions partner, will oversee the heating and ventilation solution for the many different facilities where the games will take place.

“Most of us will never know the horrors of war. Many men and women suffer life-changing injuries after serving their country. How do these men and women find the motivation to keep going and not be defined by their injuries?

With this powerful introduction the Invictus Games foundation presents itself, a sporting event born in 2014 and promoted by the Prince of England, where nearly 500 soldiers wounded in combat from 17 countries participate in several sport competitions.

For the 2022 edition, Aggreko, temperature control solutions partner, will oversee the heating and ventilation solution for the many different facilities where the games will take place.

"We have designed a solution focused on minimizing the environmental impact" says Mark Reijnders, Key Account Manager of Aggreko Benelux. "We will heat the event through 3 top notch 2.5 MW boilers, this means a great reduction in consumption compared to traditional tent heating equipment."

Apart from heating, the solution provided by Aggreko includes the installation of an industrial ventilation system that ensures a high degree of air renewal. "With 26 tents that make a total of 16,000m2, it has been necessary to install a total of 49 Air Handlers with a ventilation capacity of 550,000 m3/u" highlights Mark.

After 2 years without Invictus Games due to pandemic, this year's edition to be held in The Hague is especially relevant. Monique Verhoeven, Sales Manager Europe at Aggreko Events Services, has pointed out the importance of this type of event "Aggreko is an experienced partner in event management,  Invictus Games The Hague 2020 have been a logistical challenge and after two years of the pandemic, we really wanted to contribute with our knowledge and demonstrate that organizing safe events with low environmental impact is possible”.

Regarding Aggreko's strategy to offer energy transition solutions, Monique Verhoeven is clear about it; “Technology advances very fast and this plays in our favor. Some of the renewable technologies available today, combined with generation in a hybrid solution, offer equivalent, or even better, levels of reliability and competitiveness than traditional ones2.”

Willem Overdiep, Senior Project Manager at TIG Sports, said: “We are delighted to have Aggreko on board as they join us as the Temperature Control Solutions Partner for Invictus Games The Hauge 2020. Aggreko are well-known for their experience in temporary control solutions, and they have an enviable pedigree when it comes to multi-games events; they are the ideal partner to help deliver a safe and sustainable Games.

We are looking forward to using some of Aggreko’s pioneering new technologies and developing innovative approaches to temperature control solutions at the Games, whilst still maintaining the highest levels of reliability.”
