AGRIA INSURES XL BULLIES FOR LIFE – PRIORITISING PET WELFARE FOR ALL

31 January 2024: Agria Pet Insurance has today announced its commitment to all dog owners, taking a stance to support American XL Bully’s and their owners by providing lifetime veterinary fee cover for both existing and new policy holders.

Although some UK insurers will continue to offer protection to existing policy holders, Agria is one of the few insurers to offer lifetime veterinary fee cover to new customers. Insurance will be available to owners demonstrating they are following advice on safe ownership and public safety by being in receipt of an exemption certificate.

The announcement is in response to the government ban that comes into force tomorrow (1 February 2024), making it a criminal offence to own an American XL Bully dog in England and Wales unless a Certificate of Exemption for the dog is obtained. A historical day for pet owners nationwide.

Vicki Wentworth, Managing Director at Agria Pet Insurance, says: “Prioritising animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do at Agria and we want to be there to protect pets and their owners should they need veterinary treatment. We know that the last few months have been particularly difficult for owners of American XL Bully dogs, and we are pleased to be able to reassure them that we can provide lifetime veterinary fee cover for their dog, so we can support them in prioritising their pet’s welfare”.

For owners looking for lifetime veterinary fees cover for their American XL Bully, Agria can help with this over the phone. Please get in touch with its specialist team on 03330 30 10 00 (policies are not available online), with exemption certificate details, to discuss protecting them.

While Agria Pet Insurance can provide lifetime insurance cover for American XL Bully dogs for veterinary fees, it is unable to include cover for third party liability. It is essential that owners have this in place, therefore Agria advises owners to contact an organisation, such as Dogs Trust, that can provide this for them.
