Agria Lifetime Equine celebrates important milestone

Agria marked the first birthday of its evolutionary Lifetime Equine insurance in the UK with a birthday cake and string of interested visitors at this year’s Defender Burghley Horse Trials.

Agria’s Lifetime Equine insurance, launched at 2022 Burghley Horse Trials, does not add new exclusions to vet cover once you make a claim for a condition, and so offers horse owners reassurance that vet bills can be covered year after year for recurring injuries or repetitive or chronic conditions, a true welfare benefit. A Lifetime policy, with up to £10,000 of vet fees cover every year, means that owners will no longer face the difficult decision of whether to “call the vet or wait and see”.

Uptake of the new policy has far exceeded predictions, and one year on, Agria can also reveal the most commonly claimed for condition to date: gastric ulcers.

At Burghley, the Agria stand was busy throughout from horse and dog owners full of questions: could they have an on-the-spot quotation (yes); is there an upper age limit on horses insured (no); if a horse has colic one year is he insured for it in future years (yes); and is there a multi-animal discount (yes)?

Agria-sponsored rider Ros Canter also met stand visitors and took competition prize winners on a tour of key cross-country fences, sharing all kinds of insights about her amazing summer along the way.

Agria’s ventures extend far beyond insurance, however, since horse welfare, and supporting horse sport, sustainability, and helping people to enjoy their horse to the full are also core principals of its business. Consequently, year one has also seen Agria become a sponsor at Hickstead, the Pony Club and RDA Championships, and the BE100 League besides being a fence sponsor at Burghley.

Agria also sponsors European champion Ros Canter,  Joe Stockdale, Gareth Hughes and Natasha Baker.

It has launched the Agria Vet Guide app through which customers may consult an experienced equine vet online for no fee; and runs a regular Horse of a Lifetime competition, culminating with the Agria Horse of a Lifetime at the Horse & Hound Awards, which was last year won (through a public vote) by the late Queen Elizabeth’s riding pony Carltonlima Emma.

“These are just a selection of our first-year projects: it has truly been a whirlwind first year,” says Agria CEO Vicki Wentworth, herself a keen event rider. “That’s because our role goes far beyond protecting partnerships through our ground-breaking insurance. We also invest in research and producing first-class content with welfare experts and top riders; we are continually improving our sustainability — we’re a carbon neutral firm — and we are running our first live Agria Ride in September.”

Agria Lifetime Equine Celebrated its first anniversary with birthday cake on the Agria stand at Burghley and among the guests was Agria’s sponsored rider, Natasha Baker.

It’s certainly the week for number ones, as Agria-sponsored rider and current European Champion, Ros Canter, who rode, Kate Wall’s, Cooley Cloverland to victory in the Five Year Old Dubuarry Burghley Young Event Horse Championship this year, has just been named World No.1 in the FEI rankings.

If you missed Agria at Burghley and would like to meet the team in real life to find out more about Agria Lifetime Equine Insurance, calculate your horse’s Carboon Hoofprint for free or pick up an Anton or Buster, you can visit the Agria stand at Osberton Horse Trials (27th September to 1st October) and Your Horse Live at NAEC Stoneleigh Park (10th to 12th November)
