Rescue a Rescue: Agria Launches Campaign to Rehome Animals in Need From 11 UK Rescue Centres

Pet insurance provider, Agria is donating £1,000 each to 11 animal rescue and rehabilitation centres, and providing a spotlight for their most in-need residents.

  • Agria has launched its ‘Rescue a Rescue’ campaign with hopes to find forever homes for 13 nominated pets from across the UK while raising awareness of the rehoming mission.
  • The 11 rescues and their chosen representatives are winners of a competition held on Agria’s social media channels, to find the most in-need animals in rescue and give them the platform they deserve.
  • The £11,000 donation adds to the £2M total that Agria has already contributed to animal welfare charities.

It is estimated that approximately 100,000 dogs and 150,000 cats are currently sitting in shelters, waiting for their perfect owner to come along and give them a permanent home where they can feel safe and loved*.

That’s why Agria is using its latest campaign, Rescue a Rescue to encourage the public to adopt an animal in need. Initially inspired by the spike in animals looking for homes following the peak of new pets in 2020, the Rescue a Rescue campaign has been running annually since 2021.

By raising awareness of the UK’s huge need for rehoming, the pet insurer hopes to find homes for all 13 of its ‘Rescue a Rescue’ mascots.

Agria launched Rescue a Rescue with Tenille, a one-year-old domestic cat who was living at Tails Animal Rescue in Cheshire after being abandoned as a kitten. Thanks to Agria’s promotion, Tenille has already been snapped up by new owners, and since being fostered, she has made an almost complete recovery. Agria is delighted to see Tenille enjoying her new forever home, with lots of catnip and cuddles!

Despite Tenille’s speedy success story, there are still 12 pets in Agria’s Rescue a Rescue cohort who are searching for their dream homes:

  1. Dixie, Cheshire Sighthound Rescue

Dixie is an 8-year-old Bull Lurcher who has been given up twice through no fault of her own. Dixie is loyal and loving but can get anxious, especially in a kennel environment, which is why it’s so important that she finds an only-pet home with an owner who has the time and patience for quiet, remote walks.

  1. Jinx, Hope Rescue

Jinx is a three-year-old Belgian Shepherd. After being rescued from a cruel owner, she found her way to Hope Rescue, where she gave birth to eight puppies, all of whom have since been homed. Now it’s Jinx’s turn for a happy ending. Jinx would suit an adult-only household and is not keen on being left on her own.

  1. Holly and Ivy, Band of Rescuers

Holly and Ivy are two young domestic short hair cats who love to play together and chase each other but can take a little more time to come out of their shell around others (both human and animal). Holly is the bravest of the two and will follow wherever the treats go, while Ivy is more of a scaredy cat. Loud noises and being picked up are scary experiences for both, so they’ll need a grown-up family and a quiet, calm home.

  1. Shadow, Saving Saints & Big Paws Welfare

Shadow is a 3-year old Greek Caucasian Shepherd. He is curious and polite with a fun and quirky side. He loves playing with smaller dogs, digging in the sand and snuggling up. Shadow finds some new things a little scary, so would suit a new owner with patience, an adult-only home, and plenty of outdoor space.

  1. Luna, GSPCA

Luna is a mature female Rex rabbit whose owner sadly passed away. Now she is in search of a peaceful home, perhaps with the company of another older, calm male rabbit. Luna has some stomach issues, so would suit an experienced rabbit owner who can give her plenty of space.

  1. Kiki, T.A.C.O Cat Rescue

Kiki is a 1-year old cat, who loves catnip and sunbathing but hates loud noises and being left alone. Despite her unpredictable nature, Kiki doesn’t like to be alone - once she trusts and gets to know you, her favourite thing to do is curl up on your chest and fall asleep. Kiki needs a grown-up home, potentially with other laid-back cats who can help her chill out.

  1. Skylor, North Clwyd Animal Rescue

Skylor is a young Staffy cross Italian Greyhound with a joyful spirit and additional needs. A homebody who loves snuggling and playing peek-a-boo with her blanket, Skylor can find the outside world overwhelming. She has a picky palette, and would prefer to be the only dog in an adult household. Skylor likes short, familiar walks, and does not do rain!

Some of Yoko’s pet peeves are having his feet dried and having strangers invading his personal space. Yoko would love to live with a grown-up family and must be kept on a lead.
