- The total harvest for Alpcot Agro was about 150,000 tonnes, as of 7 November 2008. The average yield for winter wheat was 3.5 tons/hectare. Some fields were yielding more than 7 tons/hectare of winter wheat, proving the potential in the region.
- The total harvested area was 55,600 hectares, of which 45 percent was winter planted during 2007 and 55 percent planted during the spring of 2008.
- Precipitation during 2008 was favourable for grains, but low temperatures in spring limited the growth of all temperature sensitive crops, like maize and sunflower. In general, the weather conditions did not benefit the technique of preserving the soil moisture which Alpcot Agro applies.
- Alpcot Agro has successfully winter planted 55,300 hectares during fall 2008, of which 4,500 hectares in Ukraine. Of the total planted area, the company has planted more than 50,000 hectares of winter wheat. All the winter crops are in perfect condition with the best possible winter hardiness.
- Alpcot Agro is storing most of this year’s harvest in its own storage facilities. Prices are in general lower than expected, but the company expects the prices to pick up later during the agricultural year for high quality grains.
- More than 46,000 hectares have during the fall been prepared for spring planting.

Comment from the CEO Björn Lindström:
”I am pleased to announce that Alpcot Agro has successfully completed the 2008 harvest, with a total crop production of about 150,000 tonnes. We are satisfied with the yield, considering 2008 was Alpcot Agro’s first full operational year and a part of the crop was harvested on previously abandoned land. The fall campaign of more than 55,000 hectares was carried out in overall good weather conditions, including the 4,500 hectares winter planted in Ukraine. The prospects for future increase of yields are very good and our efforts for operational improvements are continuously advancing”
