Livestock update Q2 2013

Agrokultura AB (First North Stockholm: AGRA, “Agrokultura” or “the Company”), the investor in farmland and agricultural operations in Russia and Ukraine, reports its livestock update for Q2 2013.

During Q2 2013, the average milk production on the Company’s Russian dairy farms amounted to 46.8 tons per day, a decrease of 12 per cent from 53.2 tons per day in Q2 2012.

The average production per cow amounted to 577 litres per month in Q2 2013, which is comparable to Q2 2012 which reached 579 litres per month.

In Q2 2013, sales of livestock related produce amounted to SEK 14.7 million (approximately USD 2.2 million), a decrease by 8 per cent compared to SEK 16 million in the same period in 2012. Milk sales amounted to SEK 12.0 million (USD 1.8 million) and meat sales amounted to SEK 2.7 million (USD 0.4 million). All prices are excluding VAT.

At 30 June 2013, the Company’s Russian livestock herd amounted to 6,408 animals, consisting of 2,428 dairy cows, 2,744 heifers, 738 dry cows, and 498 bulls and calves, compared to 6,973 animals at the same time last year. The reduction is a part of the work of improving the overall genetics of the herd. The Company also has a small livestock herd in Ukraine, which is not included in this report.

Ulf Scholander, Managing Director at Agrokultura, comments:

”Having harvested more than 25,000 tonnes of fodder crops since June we are mostly self-sufficient with fodder, and this is lowering the input costs considerably in the livestock business. In total we expect to harvest about 65,000 tonnes of fodder crops this summer. Milk prices are presently at an attractive level, higher than last year, and the outlook seems favourable.”
