Agrokultura AB (“the Company”), the owner and operator of farmland with agricultural operations in Russia and Ukraine, has completed its 2013 winter campaign with a total of 46,400 hectares planted.

The Company has planted a total of 46,400 hectares, of which 27,800 hectares are wheat, 14,500 hectares are rapeseed and 4,100 hectares are barley. The area planted is 19% smaller compared to 2012, due to persistent heavy rains throughout the planting window across the region. The reduction lies mostly in wheat and barley whilst planned areas of rapeseed were planted in August and early September. As a result of the reduced winter planting, the Company intends to increase the areas of spring planted crops. The table below shows the breakdown of the winter planting by crop and region.

Ulf Scholander, Managing Director, commented:

“Due to the unusually wet autumn, we have reduced the area of winter cereals. The Company is preparing to offset the reduced winter planting by an expanded spring planting campaign. The target is to have an overall cropped area in 2014 similar to what we have had in 2013.”
