Since 2016, AIFM Group (“AIFM”) has participated in the Nordic American Talent Mobility scholarship program via strategic partnership with the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce (SACC–USA), Svenska Institutet, and Linnaeus University. Through this program, AIFM offers selected Americans tuition-free admission to the Master of International Business Programme at Linnaeus University in Kalmar. While completing their Masters, scholarship recipients participate in a unique traineeship with AIFM.

AIFM offers trainee participants a comprehensive introduction to the European asset management industry, Nordic entrepreneurship, and corporate strategy. Furthermore, the cultural immersion, as well as being able to work with both students and colleagues from around the world provides participants a chance to develop their international communication skill set. The scholarship program has thus far proven to be a success, promoting knowledge and talent dispersion across and between Sweden and the United States with four different American participants since 2016. In certain cases, AIFM Group has decided to keep participants on as full-time employees after the conclusion of the traineeship.

In order to be eligible for this scholarship opportunity, applicants must be United States citizens/residents with a bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in international business, financial markets, and a strong desire to learn.

This fall, AIFM Group has had the pleasure of welcoming its fourth scholarship recipient, Jace Drennan, to Sweden. Jace is originally from Amarillo, TX, and graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in May 2019. He is no stranger to the Nordic region. In 2018, Jace completed a study-abroad term in Norway where he took courses in international business and studied the different business cultures of the Nordic region.

Jace was recently interviewed by SACC-USA, and featured in their December newsletter. In his interview, Jace states that he has thoroughly enjoyed living in Sweden thus far: “Linnaeus University has an absolutely beautiful and modern campus that is located on the harbor. It is a pleasure to be able to attend such a great university that deeply cares about the success of its students.”

When asked about working for AIFM Group he has only positive things to say about his experiences. “Working with AIFM Group has been a life-changing experience, to say the least. The people who are above me in the organization I wouldn't really consider them to be my 'bosses' in the traditional sense, but rather mentors facilitating my growth within the company and in the European financial sector.” The United States may have to wait before they have Jace back due to expressing his post-graduation plans as being: “very interested in continuing working for the AIFM Group and be a part of a rapidly expanding company that's being driven by the entrepreneurial spirit.”
