The Humber Workshops will be responsible for all pressure safety valves, maintenance and recertification, to include offshore support for shutdowns. The contract is scheduled to commence this month for a duration of five years, with extension options of 2 x one year periods.

The workshops' custom-designed, in-house asset management system will be used for this project.  The system is designed to manage all information relating to the lifecycle of customers' assets, and is internet-accessible via a secure link. "Using Aker Kvaerner's expertise in asset management gives a business greater control and understanding of their assets and delivers real cost savings," explained Gary Robins, Humber Workshops Manager.

Martin Moon, Director of Process for Aker Kvaerner's Engineering Services business, said, "This contract represents a significant step change in our workshop services offering and, for the Engineering Services business, is the first of its kind to include offshore valve maintenance. I am extremely pleased that our Humber Workshops have secured this contract and have shown a strong team ethic throughout the process. This will be a stepping stone to develop our workshop services offering to other operators and broaden our profile for the future."

Aker Kvaerner's Engineering Services business also operates facilities in Teesside, Whitehaven, Warrington and Dounreay in the UK, and Maastricht and Rotterdam in Netherlands, Antwerp in Belgium, Cologne in Germany and Cork in Ireland.

The Morecambe Field is an offshore, hydrocarbon gas reservoir divided into two sections, known as the North Morecambe & South Morecambe Fields. Gas is produced through offshore facilities, which are located approximately 25 miles west of Blackpool, Lancashire.  The Morecambe Field is operated by Centrica Energy which also operates the Millom and Dalton Fields on behalf of Burlington Resources (Irish Sea) Limited (BRIS) and processes the gas through the North Morecambe Terminal at Barrow.
