19 October 2006 - For the second, consecutive year, Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Kvaerner do Brasil, has been recognised by the Brazilian Pulp and Paper Technical Association (ABTCP) for the calibre of its supplier capabilities. As in 2005, the ABTCP recognised Aker Kvaerner as the "Preferred supplier of machines and equipment for pulp manufacturing". This year also sees the company win the award for the category of "Systems for liquor recovery and power generation".

"We are, of course, proud and delighted to be recognised once again by the Brazilian pulp and paper industry. Despite many years of successful operations in Brazil, these awards are a reflection of our continued fervour to assist our clients in improving their operations. This continuous progress is not possible without the experience and commitment of our employees, who take pride in delivering state-of-the-art technology in world-class executed projects," says Aristides Labigalini, President of Kvaerner do Brasil.

Kvaerner do Brasil, located in Curitiba in the state of Paraná, has been operating in Brazil since 1972. Since then, the company has been involved in almost-all major pulp and paper projects in Brazil. The company is currently working on a large number of projects, including the supply of a cooking plant and a complete recovery island, which incorporates the world's largest single-line white liquor plant, for the new one million tonnes per year Suzano Mucuri pulp mill.

The awards were presented to Aker Kvaerner at a ceremony on October 18, at the 39th ABTCP-TAPPI Pulp and Paper International Congress and Exhibition, held in Sao Paulo.
