Aker's Nutcracker commercial wins another international award
"The Nutcracker", Aker's 2005 television commercial produced by Grey Worldwide Norway, was chosen as the best commercial based on the following criteria:
A prize of 20 000 Euro was awarded.
"The 'Nutcracker' film was selected because of the energy it communicates. When watching you believe that it is actual Aker employees in the film," said Bjørn Solheim, Project leader for CST. "We also liked the manner the film hopped back and forth between the past and present, something that shows how research can solve a problem and how knowledge can be transferred from one generation to the next."
"We are extremely proud of the 'Nutcracker' film and we are very pleased that it was chosen by such an impressive international jury to win this award," said Jan Christian Fosseidbråten, Managing Director of Grey Worldwide, Norway. "We will use the prize money to establish a scholarship fund for students who contribute to furthering the communication of science and technology. The scholarship guidelines are still to be worked out, but they will be aligned with the values and spirit communicated in Aker's 'Nutcracker'."
Communicating Science and Technology is an international arena addressing the declining recruitment to the natural sciences, mathematics and technology. Its aim is to engage the private sector in a debate about what this means for society as a whole.
In order to inspire new and innovative ideas for the communication of science and technology, the first day of the conference was dedicated to evaluating TV programs, commercials and internet. Presentations were judged by an international committee.
The conference has attracted journalists, media experts, policy makers, educators, and industrial representatives with a vested interest in the subject from around Europe.
