Engineering contract for Chinese subsea pipeline

Report this content
CNOOC aims to develop the PY30-1 & HZ21-1 gas fields. The PY30-1 Gas Field is located approximately 250km South of Hong Kong, where water depth is about 195m.  The HZ21-1 Gas Field is located approximately 160km Southeast of Hong Kong, where water depth is about 115meters. KECS has been awarded the Basic Engineering (Phase 1) and Detailed Engineering (Phase 2) design of the complete 365kilometres long, 20 inch diameter X 65 Grade submarine gas export pipeline system.

KECS's project team will include over 15 subsea specialists from various disciplines such as materials, process, mechanical and subsea pipelines.  CNOOC have stated that they rate this as the most important offshore project to be awarded this year, and they are relying upon Aker Kvaerner's deliverance.

The work will be performed from KECS, Aker Kvaerner's centre of excellence for subsea pipelines in Singapore.  KECS has recently performed the design of three other major subsea pipeline systems in China, and this award brings their current order backlog to over 1,000km of submarine pipelines and associated subsea facilities in Asia and India.
