Kvaerner Pulping to modernise Brazilian pulp mill

The order is part of a modernisation and capacity increase project run at Aracruz Guaiba, with intention to enhance the nominal capacity to 430,000 tonnes bleached eucalyptus pulp per year.

"This is our third modernisation order in Brazil this year, which indicates that our goal of being recognised as the preferred supplier regarding upgrades and modernisations is truly turning into reality," says Aristides Labigalini, president of Kvaerner do Brasil.

The modernised bleach plant will comprise a three-stage bleaching sequence, including a new COMPACT PRESS(TM).

The recausticizing plant, equipped with a new PDW(TM) filter as well as a new lime mud filter, will produce 5,200 m3 white liquor per day after the rebuild.

The Kvaerner Pulping delivery is on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis. Start-up is scheduled to November 2005.
