Trym EPC contract to Aker Solutions

26 March 2009 - Aker Solutions has been awarded an EPC contract by Dong E&P Norge to deliver a complete subsea production system to the operator's Trym field. Contract value is approximately NOK 400 million.

Scope of work includes engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of two subsea well sets - including trees, controls, wellheads and tie-in system - a four-slot template with manifold, six kilometres of steel tube umbilicals, a high pressure riser, tools and lifecycle services.

"We have a solid track record in the North Sea and we will once again test our ability as a 'one-stop shop' provider for complete subsea production systems. This is our first subsea contract with Dong Energy and we look forward to working with them on their first EPC subsea project in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea," says Mads Andersen, executive vice president, Aker Solutions.

The subsea well sets for the Trym field will be from Aker Solutions' RapidSolution programme, which is a pre-configured system with a dedicated stocking programme that aims to provide a complete well set within a fraction of the traditional system lead times.

"Our RapidSolution programme has enabled us to connect with many new customers as well as winning EPC projects where trees have been the pacing item. The Trym contract is another good example of this," adds Andersen.

The Trym field is located in Norwegian sector just north of the Norwegian-Danish North Sea border, approximately 300 kilometres south-west of Kristiansand, Norway. The field's water depth is approximately 65 metres. The subsea production system will be tied back to the Maersk-operated Harald platform in Danish sector, six kilometres south of the subsea field.

The project will be managed out of Aker Solutions' headquarters in Oslo. The majority of the subsea equipment will be manufactured at Aker Solutions' Norwegian facilities such as Tranby (subsea trees), Moss (umbilicals) and Egersund (template and manifold). Subsea control systems will be manufactured in Aberdeen, UK. Final equipment deliveries will be made in June 2010.

Contract party is Aker Solutions subsidiary Aker Subsea AS.
