Kvaerner Pulping, part of the Aker Kvaerner group, will provide engineering, procurement and construction services (EPC) under the new contract. The wash presses are scheduled for start up in August 2006.

The new wash presses of Kvaerner Pulpings Compact Press(TM) design will be installed in two of the Jacareí mill's fiberlines. One will replace old equipment in the Line B bleach plant to facilitate increased production while the second will improve both pulp quality and capacity in Line C's brown stock washing area.

"Even though there is a fierce competition in this market, once again a client finds our solution to best meet their technical and commercial requirements. That encourages us to continue developing leading-edge technology for the worldwide pulp and paper industry," says Per-Åke Färnstrand, President of Kvaerner Pulping.

VCP is one of the largest companies in Latin America's pulp and paper sector, focusing on market pulp and printing papers. Through a recent expansion plan VCP has increased its production capacity for pulp to 1.42 million tons, and for paper to 685 000 tons.
